Meet the talented team behind Spark’s education programs!
Zack has been working in the informal education field in Calgary for well over ten years. He has led teams at the Calgary Zoo, Bow Habitat Station, and Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame. He is responsible for the oversight and management of all K-12 Programs. Zack has a BSc in Zoology.

Prior to joining Spark’s education team, Alan was an elementary school teacher in Calgary. He supports the classroom team of Program Leaders and can occasionally be spotted facilitating workshops. He has a BA in History and Classical Studies and BEd (Master of Teaching) from the University of Calgary.

Originally from England, Toby moved to Calgary in 2014 with his Marine Biology BSc to explore the world-renowned prairie marine life. Prior to joining the Education team at Spark, Toby worked as a marine biologist, taxonomist and environmental educator. He currently co-ordinates TELUS Spark’s educational outreach programs, including “DIY Science Centre”, “Direct from..” and “Operation Minerva”. Toby is passionate about the marvels of the natural world and loves having his ‘mind-blown’!

Donna Kipta holds a BSc in Biological Sciences and a BEd from the University of Calgary. Donna is a self-professed “wonderer” and has been involved in both formal and informal education for many years. She is a widely respected as an expert in STEAM education.

Amy has a zest for educating others and life! Her previous experience includes archaeology, the UofC's Aboriginal Youth Engagement Program, and the Calgary Zoo. Her interests include embroidery, hiking, archaeology, and sketching. Amy is pursuing an MEd from the University of Calgary.

Elaine started as a Program Leader with TELUS Spark when it opened in 2011, and has recently taken on an administrative role with school programs. Originally from Vancouver, her prior experience ranges from formal teaching in elementary schools to informal teaching in the environmental education and interpretation field. She is a mom to two active and curious young boys, which means she is always learning something new! Elaine has a BSc in Natural Resources Conservation and a BEd with an elementary option.
