Tourism Calgary and TELUS Spark Science Centre welcomed Austrian travellers Hannes and Heidi Rammler to Calgary during their coast-to-coast camper adventure inspired by Terry Fox. Hannes first crossed Canada by bicycle in 2025, fulfilling a childhood dream and honouring the Marathon of Hope. Returning this summer with Heidi, the couple has travelled from Newfoundland and Labrador through remote highways, coastal communities and major Canadian cities, following curiosity and local recommendations along the way. Their Calgary stop included a Western Hospitality White Hat welcome by Tourism Calgary, commemorative Spark gifts and a visit to SUE: The T. rex Experience.

TELUS Spark Science Centre and TELUS are bringing back the TELUS Purple Galaxy Pass, giving Grade 7 students across Calgary and surrounding communities free unlimited admission for one year. The program removes financial barriers while offering hands-on exhibits, live science shows, immersive experiences and year-round STEAM learning. New this year, graduating pass holders can receive 40% off a TELUS Spark Child Membership for their first year after the program. Registration opens August 1 for the 2026–2027 school year.

TELUS Spark Science Centre received $879,065 from the Government of Canada through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund to support upgrades to the Infinity Dome theatre and Digital Immersion Gallery spaces. The investment will help enhance audio-visual technology, accessibility, emergency safety systems, exhibit fabrication and digital infrastructure, supporting immersive science experiences that inspire curiosity, connection and discovery for students, families and visitors.

On June 23, 2026, TELUS Spark Science Centre will welcome media to a Government of Canada announcement celebrating a major investment through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund to enhance the Infinity Dome theatre. The event features remarks from government and Spark leaders, followed by an exclusive screening of T.REX, showcasing how the funding will strengthen immersive science experiences, cultural programming, and giant-screen storytelling for visitors from across Alberta and beyond.

On June 26, 2026, TELUS Spark Science Centre will welcome media, donors and community leaders to an exclusive preview of SUE: The T. rex Experience, before the exhibition opens to the public on June 27. Guests will be among the first in Canada to experience the world’s most famous Tyrannosaurus rex through an immersive dinosaur exhibition featuring a dramatic reveal, photo opportunities, media interviews, and a first look at Calgary’s biggest prehistoric attraction of the summer.

TELUS Spark is welcoming Canadian Natural Resources Limited as the presenting partner of Science School, a week-long immersive STEAM program that has inspired more than 19,000 Calgary students and 700 teachers since 1997. Canadian Astronaut Colonel Joshua Kutryk Touches Down for Live Talk

TELUS Spark welcomes Canadian Space Agency astronaut Colonel Joshua Kutryk for a live public talk and Q&A on May 24, 2026. Guests will hear from the NASA SpaceX Crew-13 crew member about his journey to becoming one of Canada’s active astronauts and his upcoming mission aboard the International Space Station, alongside a full day of space-themed programming included with general admission and free for Spark Members.

TELUS Spark hosts a live launch viewing event for NASA’s Artemis II mission, marking the first crewed journey beyond Earth orbit in more than 50 years. Guests get to experience the historic launch of Canadian astronaut Colonel Jeremy Hansen’s mission around the Moon through live NASA coverage, space-themed activities, expert commentary, and immersive programming inside Spark’s Infinity Dome and Inspiration Stage.

TELUS Spark is turning sport science into a party with Science of Sports: Spark After Dark, powered by ATB, on April 10 from 6:00 PM to midnight. This 18+ event invites guests to test their athletic limits with hands-on activities like LED mini golf, hockey slapshots, biomechanics labs, inflatable curling, and axe throwing, while exploring the science behind performance, recovery, and adrenaline. Supporting Calgary’s Water Conservation Efforts with Science in Action

TELUS Spark supports Calgary’s water conservation efforts during the critical Bearspaw South Feeder Main repairs by encouraging visitors and the community to reduce water use through simple everyday actions. As a LEED Gold-certified facility, Spark already uses innovative systems that collect and reuse rainwater and stormwater, reducing reliance on municipal water while showcasing how science and sustainable design can make a meaningful impact.

TELUS Spark hosts Indigenous Science Night: Sport, Survival, Spirit on March 20, inviting guests to explore Indigenous and land-connected science through interactive activities, traditional games, storytelling, and community-led teachings. Spark Unleashes New Exhibition: Extreme Sports — Beyond Human Limits

TELUS Spark Science Centre is pushing the limits of curiosity with Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits, an immersive exhibition exploring the science behind extreme athletic performance. Through hands-on challenges, interactive simulations, and stories from elite athletes, visitors can discover the psychology, physiology, and physics that drive humans to test the boundaries of endurance, focus, and achievement.

TELUS Spark Science Centre is bringing the beloved children’s classic Goodnight Moon to life in the Digital Immersion Gallery starting November 5. This multi-sensory experience invites guests to step inside the great green room and explore a world of nostalgia, art, and the science of sleep. Produced in partnership with Supply and Demand and licensed through HarperCollins, the exhibition transforms the iconic bedtime story into an interactive, story-driven adventure for all ages.

TELUS Spark Science Centre is hosting Indigenous Science Night: Ancestor Rocks on October 24, inviting guests to explore the science, stories, and teachings held within the oldest teachers — rocks. The evening features workshops, Elders’ teachings, hands-on activities, telescope viewing, live music, and a special outdoor cooking experience with Cree Chef Shane Chartrand. TELUS Spark Science Centre is celebrating the spookiest season of the year with HallowSTEAM: Webs, Wings & Wiggly Things, a month-long adventure running October 1–31.
