Visitor Behaviour Learner

Position Description

Spark has several galleries full of different ways to explore STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). A great deal of research and planning goes into the development and creation of new exhibits, as well as examining how existing exhibits can be adapted to best meet our guests' needs. As a Visitor Behaviour Learner, you will collect and record data about visitors' Spark experiences – both observing and asking them directly about their adventures here. You'll get to work closely with and learn alongside our Exhibits Team, and your research will help develop innovative strategies to maximize the potential of the guest experience.

Availability

  • Schedule: shifts are 3 hours in length and take place during the day; timing is flexible (some weekday morning and weekend availability is an asset)
  • Commitment: two to four shifts per month

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct visitor observations, surveys, and interviews (templates will be provided)
  • Collect and record data taken in through evaluation techniques
  • Review observations and evaluation techniques with supervisor on a regular basis
  • Help compile and present data in reports (as needed)

Desired Skills and Qualifications

This position is best suited for someone who is:

  • Comfortable talking with people
  • Focused and able to work independently
  • Detail-oriented; capable of following directions closely and recording data accurately
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and tablet computers

Requisites

  • Mandatory volunteer orientation: March 21 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM
  • Current police check (18+)
