Science School Explorer

Position Description

The Chevron Open Minds Science School is an award winning and established week-long program allowing students to visit Spark every day for a week. Students get the opportunity to immerse themselves in a variety of aspects of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math).  As a Science School Explorer, you will have the opportunity to inspire youth while gaining informal education experience.

Availability 

  • Schedule: shifts typically take place from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on weekdays during the school year (September to June)
  • Mandatory volunteer orientation: April 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assisting with transitions between classroom activities, crafts, and clean up
  • Classroom management and engagement
  • Preparing and organizing supplies
  • Supporting outdoor activities seasonally

  • Working with basic tools (saw, hot glue gun, drill, box cutter)

Skills 

  • Interest or background in education (formal or informal settings)
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Passion and interest in helping kids learn
  • Experience working with kids an asset
  • Science background an asset

Requisites

  • Police record check
  • Mandatory volunteer orientation: April 6 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
