Under the Sea Expert

Availability 

  • Minimum of two 4 hour shifts per month (11am-3pm)
  • Exhibit Runs from January 20, 2018 – June 20, 2018
  • Interviews will take place the evenings of November 21 and December 7
  • Training will take place January 13, 10am-4pm

Only candidates that are available for the full duration (6 months) of the exhibit will be considered. All candidates accepted MUST be available for training on January 13, 10am-4pm   

Position Description

20 Thousand Leagues Under the Sea! Free Willy! Moby Dick! Finding Nemo! Are these some of your favourite stories? Do sea creatures and the ocean interest you? We are looking for marine life scientists  and enthusiasts who want to be part of a once in a life time volunteer experience. You will get the opportunity to help guide our guests through the Whales: Giants of the Deep exhibit as they discover what makes these wonderful mammals special to humans around the world. Using your love of all things whale, life science and marine biology related, a passion for public education, and your outstanding people skills, you’ll find out just how rewarding volunteering can be in this fast-paced, fun environment.

  • Engaging with our guests by answering questions and creating positive experiences
  • Facilitating “Whales” programming
  • Assisting the facilitation and education team members
  • Helping to keep guest lines and flow organized
  • Cultural practice ambassador
