Our week-long camps focus on themed hands-on Science, Technology, Engineering and Art activities, exploring exhibits, Dome Theatre shows, live science demonstrations and outdoor adventures. The days are all about the process; we get a little messy, but we learn new skills and take some exciting risks along the way to build confidence. Play is essential for healthy growth, so we mix organized games and free play time into every day at camp.
Parents/guardians are required to have documented the name, phone number and relationship of who will be picking up their camper on the sign in/out sheet. You can add an alternate pick-up for your child, by calling or emailing us from a number/email address that we have on your Camper’s file, or by adding someone to your camper’s file in the morning when you are dropping them off. Camp staff will not allow an adult that's not listed on your camper’s file to take the camper home. Picture ID is required for all adults picking up campers at the end of every single day.
Our primary concern is for the safety of our campers. In the unlikely event that your child requires emergency medical attention while they are in our care, it is vital that we have their Alberta Health Care number for medical professionals.
The first 30 minutes of parking is free for parents and caregivers dropping off and picking up campers. Parents can simply not worry about activating a parking session during pick-up and drop-off hours. If you are dropping a camper off late or picking up a camper early, simply activate a 30 mins free parking session on the Park Plus machines. If you plan to stay at the Centre beyond pick up and drop off hours, all Gold and Ignite Members have parking included with their memberships, otherwise, parking is a $5 flat fee for the day.
TELUS Spark is committed to providing the most positive experience possible for our campers. We have found that children attending our camps who bring lunches from home have the most positive lunch experiences within our programs.
We've had increasing feedback from parents with children who have allergies, sensitivities, and other dietary restrictions regarding the limitations in the breadth of menus we're able to offer. We also fully appreciate the wide variety of food preferences specific to different cultural backgrounds, families, and individual children.
When sending lunches, please be aware that fridge and microwave facilities are not available and that many of our campers have nut allergies, mainly to peanuts. Although we cannot guarantee a peanut-free facility due to the public nature of our centre, for the safety of our campers, we ask that you avoid sending lunches that contain peanuts.
If a parent/guardian requires taking their camper out early for any reason, just let the camp leaders know in the morning at drop-off. When you arrive for early pick-up, please check in with the front desk staff who can help you locate your child’s camp.
We work hard to ensure that our camps are an amazing experience for all campers. Part of that commitment requires that we ensure no child disrupts the enjoyment or safety of the other campers through ongoing aggressive behaviour, bullying, the use of inappropriate language or other disruptive actions. We actively monitor these behaviours and, after appropriate steps are taken with the parent, we may request a camper cease coming to camp. At TELUS Spark, we embrace a no-bullying policy for the benefit of our staff and our visitors.
A camp staff or volunteer will greet parents and campers on the first day of camp and help you locate your camper’s room. After you know your way during the rest of the week, parents and campers can follow signs, which will lead them to the Learning Centre. There will always be someone greeting Before Care campers as doors may be locked before 9:00 a.m.
Please ensure that your child is dressed for the weather forecast. We often run programs outdoors if the weather permits and we always include an outdoor recess in the Brainasium. Please dress for a bit of mess as well; we suggest you bring an extra set of clothes for younger campers in case your child gets their clothing wet while experiencing activities at water tables. You won't need to send any supplies with the campers, other than two snacks (for morning and afternoon breaks) and a lunch. When packing a lunch and snacks for your child, please ensure that they are peanut-free.
We want to ensure that all campers get the most out of their experience. Our camps are designed and tested to be challenging enough only for the specified age range. We’re happy to allow campers to attend any camp, provided they turn the minimum age required by the first day of camp. Campers under 5 years old tend to find our full day camps too challenging, so we encourage parents of kids under 5 to check out the half day camp options at some of the other camps in the city.
For Spring and Summer Camps, if you have registered for Before Care, you may drop off your camper any time between 8:00 and 8:45 a.m. Between 8:45 and 8:55 a.m., campers will be moving to their camp rooms and we cannot accommodate Camper sign- in during this window.
For campers not registered for Before Care, we suggest that you arrive at 8:50 a.m.to check in and find your room. Camp staff will be able to assist you with sign-in promptly at 9:00 a.m. Please allow a bit of extra time for drop-off on the first morning as collecting forms and confirming information can slow things down – we thank you in advance for your patience.
Bring your completed form(s) with you and know which camp your camper is in. We have many camps that run concurrently and more than one camp theme for the same age groups, so knowing where you are headed helps speed up the morning sign-in process. When you arrive, there will be signs and staff to help you find your Campers camp room. There you will meet your child’s camp leaders and they will assist you in signing in your camper.
Please be prompt and give us a call should there be an outstanding circumstance that causes you to be late. If you arrive past 4:15 p.m., your child will be waiting for you in our After Care program for pick-up. If your child is registered for After Care and you are later than 5:00 pm, we will contact you via the numbers listed on your child’s registration info. If we are unable to reach you and we haven’t heard from you by 5:15 pm child services will be contacted.
Payment in full is required at the time of booking. Refunds are available for cancellations up to two weeks prior to your camp start date, but a $25 administration fee will apply. There will be no refunds issued after that date.
