Let’s celebrate global sustainability! International Science Center and Science Museum Day (ISCSMD) is an international annual event established in 2016 to commemorate the World Science Day for Peace and Development. This event establishes awareness around the United Nations’ 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in an effort to end poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity for all!

On November 10, 2017 TELUS Spark will be participating by celebrating the announcement of the completed rooftop solar panel array installation, tackling Goal 13, Climate Action. We are joining a number of external partners to spark the conversation!

Join us on November 10 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. at TELUS Spark! We are hosting fun activities to celebrate ISCSMD!

What’s happening?

  • Solar Panel Announcement at 10:30 a.m.
  • Observe a passive greenhouse model from Fluor Canada and learn about the sustainability aspects of the design and construction process
  • Join Green Calgary and have a peek into the amazing world of real worms and how they help recycle organic waste
  • Examine fish and plant systems and how aquaponics technology can help grow plants with Deepwater Farms
  • Get up close to an identical solar panel installed on the roof of TELUS Spark with ENMAX to showcase energy sustainability
  • Discover the science behind a solar distillation device with CAWST (Centre for Affordable Water and Sanitation Technology)

…and more!

We are excited to be a part of ISCSMD and this universal conversation striving towards a better future for science and society! We hope to see you on November 10!
