Fast Spark Facts: Steve Carras

Steve Carras is one of the most recognizable employees at TELUS Spark. As Guest Services Manager, Steve is at the forefront of our Guest Services team and is known for his contagious friendliness and going above and beyond for TELUS Spark guests.

What do you like most about your job?

The best part of my job has to be the people. We have an amazing group of people that work very hard to provide the best experiences for all of our guests. I am amazed every day at how passionate our staff are about their jobs and making sure the experiences at Spark are consistently great. The two best parts of my day are scanning member’s cards when we open in the morning, so I can say hello and wonder about all the great things everyone will be doing during their visit, and saying goodbye at the end of the day. Seeing all the happy and tired faces really reinforces to me how much fun everyone has here.

Have you had an “Aha” moment here, and what was it?

It would have to be all the behind the scenes activities. As a manager I am invited to many planning and organizing meetings and I am always amazed at how many people and how much organization it takes to make sure this facility continues to run as well as it does.

What’s something people don’t know about you?

My wife and I have four cats. Cookie, Annabelle, Oreo and Princess Buttons. When I retire, I plan on making the switch to dogs, and possibly one or two super cute bunny rabbits.

What have you learned from your team or from the guests coming through our doors?

I have learned that sometimes tears from our youngest guests don’t mean they are sad, it means that we did such a great job that they do not want to leave.  When I get to see how happy our guests are, I realize that TELUS Spark is an amazing part of my life.
