Celebrate with us on November 10

This year has been full of exciting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) announcements, including several innovations around global sustainability. From turning carbon dioxide into rock or ethanol to a renewable energy levels surge there’s a lot going on!

On November 10, TELUS Spark is participating in the first International Science Centre and Science Museum Day (ISCSMD) to celebrate STEAM and support global sustainability. Science centres across the world give people the opportunity to explore STEAM innovations that contribute to global sustainability while also discovering – or rediscovering - the role STEAM plays in their everyday lives. So why not celebrate?

Earlier this year, the United Nations introduced 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Ranging from climate change to affordable and clean energy. All of the goals were created to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure prosperity for all. ISCSMD is a spectacular way to foster ideas on how to support these goals.

How is TELUS Spark participating?

On November 10, TELUS Spark will be hosting a variety of activities to celebrate ISCSMD. Stop by the science centre to:

  • Be here for an exciting energy sustainability announcement at 11:30 a.m.
  • Check out the University of Calgary’s solar car team. Constructed by students, this car’s sole source of power is solar energy.
  • Mingle with the Electric Vehicles Association of Alberta and see their “rides”.
  • Discover how geologists and engineers are using Earth’s heat to generate power with the Canadian Geothermal Energy Association.
  • Experience how researchers from the University of Calgary are using algae to offer a source of clean renewable energy.

We’re excited to be a part of the inaugural ISCSMD and we hope you’ll come join us to celebrate on November 10!
